Client Story: Entegris Corporation (and Kingdom Oil Foundation)

This grant-making foundation had given dozens of urban nonprofits grants over 20 years, but they lacked the infrastructure to help in the most needed way, promoting those organizations to their wider donor network. Complaints surfaced about the foundation’s unclear identity, protocol, and community development opportunities.

Storycraft helped marketing staff save face: redirected branding; project managed the creation of three core identity brochures; interviewed and provided brand makeovers to 60 Twin Cities urban ministry executives. The resulting photo-illustrated 65-page Directory of Investment Opportunities provided introductions to private donors and corporate CEOs at an executive meet-and-greet at the downtown Minneapolis Hilton.

A Nonprofit Competition to Earn One Year of Free Business Consulting

Client Success Story: LeaderForce

Phoenix Arizona businessmen, led by the owner of the Phoenix Suns professional basketball team, Jerry Colangelo, were disappointed by a United Way report ranking Phoenix lowest on a National Caring Index. They funded Storycraft Creative in the collaborative creation of a community foundation, annual conference, and mobilization program.

Establishing a presence through a new brand, Leaderforce, calling leaders to join “Great People” investing in “Great Causes” with “Great Results,” we notified Phoenix executives that Jerry wanted to “draft them” for pro-bono service to increase the capacity of area nonprofits. In a competitive process, six “Blue Ribbon” nonprofits were highlighted as worthy investments at an annual conference, awarded year-long consulting with 3 executives each.

In five years, a remarkable 90 corporate executives were matched as pro-bono consultants with 30 Phoenix social agencies to build greater capacity to solve the needs for affordable housing, health care, and employment.
